About CYA
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CYA is a simple application designed to be launched as the last
non-Host event in a Tabby chain. It contains one STR resource, #500,
which should be altered with ResEdit to contain the name of your Red
Ryder Host application (it comes set to launch an application called
Host).
All CYA does is ensure that the seenby.bbs and NewsHiMark files are
in-synch. Once it has synchronized the two files, it creates a backup of
the existing seenby.bbs and NewsHiMark files (appropriately extended as
xxx.BAK), and deletes all but the last entry in the seenby.bbs file.
CYA has only three requirements:
• You MUST be using Tabby 1.8. CYA WILL NOT WORK WITH TABBY 2.0!
• CYA must be at the same folder level as your other Tabby events.
• CYA's STR 500 resource must have the proper name for Red Ryder
Host unless there is a launch.next file with the proper name for the
next application to launch. In any case, it’s a good idea to modify
the STR 500 resource to contain your Host program name.
CYA can be run as a stand-alone program, but if you are carrying a lot of
active echoes, you might want to consider making this an everyday Tabby
event as your seenby.bbs can grow quite large very quickly thereby
increasing the chance of a corrupted file. We've all experienced the
result of that!
Thanks to Bruce Gerson for suggesting CYA and coming up with the name and the
icon.
